Good Friday Walk Of Witness – 6th April 2012

We will once again be joining the Good Friday Walk Of Witness through Burnt Oak. The march takes us along Gervais Road, turning left into Watling Avenue and thening right into the Edgware road (A5) where the march ends in the care park of the Appletree Court Care Home. This has always been well attended in the past, and it provides a great opportunity to join with other local Burnt Oak churches in a sign of inter-denominational unity as well as providing a great witness to the local community which we seek to serve.

The march begins at 9:30am on Friday 6th April 2012 meeting at the Annunciation Church, just around the corner from International Gospel Church.

During the march we traditionally sing the Taize chant “Jesus, Remember Me”, which is in the video above, or can be streamed here:

Palm Sunday March 2012 – 1st April 2012

Every year since it began, IGC has supported and participated in the Palm Sunday march of witness through the streets of Edgware, and this year is no different. This year Palm Sunday falls on Sunday 1st April 2012 and as usual we plan to meet at St. Margaret’s Vicarage, Rectory Lane at 12:45pm (see map below for directions).

The IGC morning service wil finish earlier than normal to enable enough time for us to get to Edgware in time for the march.

The march is a great way to witness to the local community, as we walk through the centre of Edgware with a donkey and palm leaves to mark how Jesus walked into Jerusalem a week before His crucifixion. The march takes us through Station Road, turning left into the Edgware Road and then left again as we finish our march in the Broadwalk car park. There we have a short time of open air praise and worship to round off the event. It’s been great fun and sends a powerful message about the story behind Easter (as well as causing a small amount of traffic chaos in the name of Christ).

Dave Bilbrough is holding a special event to launch his new album Precious Grace. The event will be held in City Temple on Friday 4th November 2011. Doors open @ 7:30pm and entrance is FREE! Dave will be performing tracks from his new album along with his band and special guests including Helen Yousaf.

Pitstop Devesatated By Fire

As you may have read in the local press, the pitstop (situated to the rear of the church and owned by IGC), was destroyed by fire last week. No-one was hurt, but everything in the building and the building itself, was completely destroyed. For the past few years, the pitstop has only been used for storage, however in the past it has been in regular usage for the youth services that IGC has provided and is a sad loss. It’s unknown whether the fire is linked to the unrest throughout London and other cities in the UK during the past week.

We’re extremely thankful to the firefighters who tackled the blaze, particularly in light of the stresses placed on the fire service in the last few days and we continue to pray for peace in our troubled times. For more information, see this article from the Edgware & Mill Hill Times.

Picnic On The Park

IGC is holding a church picnic on Sunday 24th July 2011. The picnic will be held in Golders Hill Park straight after church. The nearest tube station is Golders Green (4 stops up the Northern Line), and the park is just a few minutes walk from the station.

Radical Joy Conference: July 16th – 17th 2011

On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th July 2011, International Gospel Church hosted the Radical Joy Conference. The speakers were Paul Anderson-Walsh and Dr. Steve McVey and the worship was led by Dave Bilbrough.
