Services

The church is cell based, meeting in small groups, in homes during the week. The Sunday service is when the cells join together and meet as a congregation meeting. On the first Sunday of the month, these cells come together for our family service.

This is one of our bedrock tenets. Christ prayed for unity and through the celebration meeting we are expressing our unity together.

On a Sunday the children join us for the first half hour of the service. This is for three reasons, firstly it enables us to worship as a family, young and old and secondly it allows us to be anexample to the children and young people. During the time they are in, the offering is taken so that we model giving to God to them. Thirdly it allows them to experience adult church so that wehn they are old enough, it won;t be too big a leap from the youth structure to the adult.

We also have family communion once a month. This is again so that we can model worship to them but also to allow those who love Jesus to take communion with their parents consent.

The service lasts for approximately 1.75 hrs. Tea and coffee are served at the end of the service.

The Sunday Morning Service

We a cell based church and meet in small groups at peoples’ homes during the week. The Sunday morning service is when the all the cell groups join together and meet as a congregation. The service starts at 10.30am and consists of four main elements; praise & adoration, teaching, communion and ministry.

Praise & Adoration

This is led by the Worship leader and the band. We believe that because we have been made a priesthood we can all bring our offering to God. There are open times during the service to allow people to pray, sing a love song to the Lord or bring Scripture. We also believe that the Holy Spirit has given us gifts for the encouragement and building up of the Church.

We would encourage people to use the gifts that God has given them. To bring a picture, a tongue, an interpretation or a Prophecy from the Lord. The use of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit will be tested by the leadership. If individuals are unsure whether the Holy Spirit is using them they should approach the Pastor or an Elder and share it with them first.

Teaching

The teaching is based on the Bible. We believe as Paul explaining to Timothy puts it “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,” (2 Timothy 3:16). We therefore base our teaching on the principles explained in the bible. Our aim is then through teaching to apply these principles into the lives of God’s people so that they can be encouraged and built up .

Communion

Communion is a time when we can remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us by dying on the cross. In Matthew 26:26-28 we read how Jesus took bread and wine, gave thanks to the Father for it and shared it with His disciples. At Jesus’ command, (Luke 22:19) “do this in remembrance of me” we too, in much the same way, do likewise. In Acts 2:42-47 we read that the disciples broke bread with each other daily. We, too, believe we should take communion as often as we can, typically every Sunday, except for the first Sunday of the Month.

Ministry

We believe that God changes lives and can change situations. We actively encourage people to pray for each other as God can use all of us. The first place for prayer is in the cell meetings where there is friendship and support. However time is allowed at the end of Sunday services for ministry.

Sunday Evenings

We meet together for prayer on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. On the second Sunday a one hour prayer meeting is held in the Margaret Wilson Room which is geared towards praying for our missionaries abroad. On the fourth or final Sunday of the month, we meet together with other churches in the local area for prayer and worship at St. Margaret’s church in Edgware.
