Youth & Childrens Vision Statement
To build a fellowship of young people with real passion; equipped and empowered to witness for Jesus Christ
We believe that children have a special place in God’s heart. Not only are they the church leaders of tomorrow, but part of the church today! Therefore, it’s our aim to develop then children and youth in the church, and, where possible, in partnership with their parents. Through this partnership, we hope to provide a solid foundation in which they can move into adulthood and taking on responsibilities in the church.
With these principles in place, it is our intention to provide children and young people with the inner strength that will enable them to withstand the pressures that the world and their peers impose on them.
Youth Work At IGC
Youth work at International Gospel Church is based on the same cell structure as the rest of the church.
There are a number of age based cell groups that meet throughout the week which are organised and run by young people. There, they have the opportunity to get to know each other, worship God, apply His word and pray for their non-Christian friends. They can also pray and support each other as they face new and difficult experiences.
Cell creates an environment which is welcoming, and makes it easier for them to bring along their friends and introduce them to Christ. The aim is to allow young people to grow in faith and confidence and draw close to Christ.
Youth cell is avilable for those aged between 11-18. There is also a cell group specifically for those aged 16-20.
It is our intention that young people learn by example. This is acheived by them being in church for the corporate worship and for the whole service on the first Sunday of the month. The young people are encourage to contribute through prayers and worship. The offerring is also taken while they are in to encourage them in giving.
We believe that young people who have confirmed their love jor Jesus can take part in communion either in the main church or in their own group. A family communion takes place on the third Sunday of the month.
There is a relaxed atmosphere in the church of love and fun. We want young people to enjoy learning about Jesus.
The youth work is run be members of the congregation who give up their time to bless the young people. All helpers sign a personal decleraion, are registered with Crusaders as helpers and over 18s are checked through the Criminal Records Bureau. The Youth & Children’s Director heads up the youth team within the church.
All our church based childrens and youth work is affiliated to Crusaders, a national youth and childrens organisation resourcing local groups.
Schools Work
We also work in partnership with n:flame to reach a number of local schools. Here we take assemblies and run Christian Unions.
n:flame
n:flame is a big celebration meeting run by Crusaders specifically for teenagers in North London
