Bridging the Gap (BtG) is one of the initiatives facilitated by @Loveburntoak. It is designed to help young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEETs) and those at risk of becoming NEET to “Achieve courageous goals and resolve tough issues”, enabling them to move from NEET to EET (employment, education and training).
The programme builds on identity and self-esteem. Learners get to engage with mentors and role models who have bridged their own gap and learn from their experiences. The programme covers employability issues and provides learners with valuable tools, tips and techniques that will enable them to positively differentiate themselves in the interview and selection process. In addition to training and employability skills learners also have scheduled one-to-one coaching sessions, especially those young people who find it extremely difficult to engage.
The learners also participate in structured work placements for five days during the course allowing feedback, evaluation and valuable skills to ensure sustainable outcomes.
Bridging the Gap works in partnership with Barnet Council’s Participation and Placement Team, Barnet Education Business Partnerships (BEBP), Barnet Business Youth Incubator (BAYBI) and Barnet Enterprise Centre (BEC).
